│ Product Announcement ViaMAIL! Beta Release ViaSoft BBS │
└───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────┘
PREVIEW COPY
If you've previously installed the preview release (VM-PREV.ZIP), please
delete all files and subdirectories associated with it. So much has
changed that it requires a fresh install.
DOCUMENTATION
As most people that have ever beta tested a product can tell you,
documentation is almost always the last item to be completed. ViaMAIL!
is certainly no different in that respect. The program has been
in development since last September and is just now coming into fully
usable form so that's the next item on the agenda.
Documentation is currently being written as well as the online help
information (available via the F1 key). This means that the only
tangible docs to refer to (now) are those surrounding the installation
of ViaMAIL! in a file called INSTALL.DOC. We anticipate 2-3 weeks
before the F1 help is complete and then a few weeks after that for the
complete documentation.
If you have a question about a certain option, you might refer to the
WILDMAIL! documentation to get an idea or you could even leave us a
message in the support echo (see below). We appologize for any
inconvenience this causes, but if you'll bear with us for the next few
weeks, we should have something quite a bit more usable.
PRODUCT SUPPORT
Supporting a product as complex as a front-end mailer is not an easy
task for any company especially when there is only one person answering
the phone. So we have created a special support conference on WSNET
(The Wildcat Support Network) to handle the technical questions that
you might have.
Members of the original ViaMAIL! alpha team as well as the programs
author (Joe Martin) will frequent this conference several times a day
in order to answer your questions as quickly and as completely as
possible.
If you find it difficult to contact us voice, please leave us a message
in the VS-VIAMAIL conference on the Support BBS. Your message will be
echoed to all the members of WSNET and you should receive a reply shortly
thereafter. By placing your message in this support conference, you
will have access to 100's of WILDCAT! SysOps running ViaMAIL! who have
both the experience and the willingness to answer your questions.
It's important to note that the program's author is working very hard on
converting the current version of ViaMAIL! over to work with the new
WILDCAT! v5 format. So to say his time is somewhat limited is an
understatement to say the least. However, support is very important so
if an emergency does crop up, you can always give Joe Martin a voice
call at 909-699-2215 and he'll get you going. Please forgive the busy
signals as he can only take one call at a time.
WSNET SUPPORT NET
WSNET (Wildcat SysOp Support Network) was carefully chosen because of the
popularity and availability as well as the network adminstrators
no-nonsense approach to providing help to Wildcat! SysOps. This means
you won't find the usual 'hate' mail or product bashing. Instead you'll
find people that really care about Wildcat! SysOps and those that are
willing to help in any way they can. Because of this, we highly
recommend becoming a member of this free network and ask that you come
see what it has to offer.
Included in the \VM10\DIFF directory is a current distribution archive
outlining the people to contact, the current nodelist and so on. Come
help us help others.
PRODUCT/UPGRADE PRICING
Pricing is always a prime concern to SysOps especially those running
echomail because not only do you have to pay to upgrade WILDCAT!, but
all the support utilities as well. This can run into major $$$ and
adding a mailer/tosser to the list only adds to the frustration.
So we looked closely at the grossly over priced offerings from our
competition and decided to provide our existing customers with a
significant price break (outlined below).
ViaMAIL! (New) Registered Products DOS Upgrade
────────────── ──────────────────────── ───────────
$149 WCFF, ViaTIC, WILDMAIL, $69
ViewPKT, ViaPKT, ViaUUCP,
WILDSCAN
As you can see, if you've registered ANY of the above listed products,
you're entitled to the special discount of $80 off the base price of $149
for a $69 upgrade price. Compared to the competition's pricing, this
could save you literally 100's of dollars!
LIMITED TIME OFFER
Since the above pricing reflects the DOS upgrade, what happens when
ViaMAIL! is converted to work with WC5, do I have to upgrade again?
Yes and No. If you purchase the product new for $149, you are entitled
to a FREE upgrade otherwise there will be a $25 additional upgrade fee
up until the WC5 version is offically released. Anytime after the
official release, the upgrade price will be $50.

COMMENTS
As always, we're interested in your thoughts in every aspect to our
approach to this product as well as its features. After all, without
your support, the product simply wouldn't exist. Please don't hesitate
to voice your opinions to us.
We understand the late approach we've taken to this upgrade, but we
couldn't see offering a mail tosser for WC5 (WILDMAIL!) when there was
only one company making a mailer which included a tosser. It just didn't
make sense. We all need choices and we ourselves don't like being forced
into something, especially when the costs are high just to continue to
offer echomail. So the last thing we'd want for our customers is for them
to be subjected to this. So please understand our position/time frame to
be able to offer you this choice.
We want to thank you for considering ViaMAIL! and believe that once you've
had your hands on it, you'll be eager to upgrade. Again, thank you for
your interest and we look forward to serving you.
STARTING ViaMAIL!
